Meeting History

Dec 12, 2016 3:30 PM  Workforce Diversity and Inclusion Committee Regular Meeting

Mrs. McBean-Clairborne commented on how Muslims are being harassed locally and around the country including young children. Ms. Kelles said she brought the resolution forward to begin the conversation and suggested having a group get together to draft a version for the Legislature to consider.

Discussion followed on how to proceed and whether the resolution should be done now, incorporate it into a resolution for making Tompkins County a sanctuary or having two separate resolutions.

Following further discussion, it was the consensus of the Committee to recommend the resolution be presented to the Legislature with the understanding that the language would be modified as appropriate. Mrs. McBean-Clairborne agreed to review the resolution and make any necessary edits and submit it to Mrs. Covert for inclusion on the agendas for the Budget, Capital, and Personnel Committee and Legislature meetings on December 20th.
