Meeting History

Sep 6, 2017 3:30 PM  Government Operations Committee Regular Meeting

Mr. Potter said this is a project ITS and Assessment have been working on for a number of years and has been waiting for New York State to finalize its decision. The State has been going through a process to determine whether it will internally replace the existing system (RPS) or outsource the project to a program for use by all State and local government agencies. He said he served on a governance board to get them to this point and they have decided to host the application for all local government in the future. A series of information sessions have been rolled out across the State with 12 entities selected to be pilot projects and Tompkins County is one.

In response to Ms. Chock asking what a "digital sketch" is, she was told the sketch model proposed in the project would allow for the conversion of paper and cards to a vector in a program that would be used to attach to information about taxation; it would be used to determine the square footage of a property and is primarily used for improvements to properties. Mr. Potter said this would allow the department to do this digitally in the future and is primarily used for projects with buildings and the management of data with tax parcels.

Ms. Kiefer offered amendments that were accepted as friendly.
