Meeting History

Jun 15, 2017 3:30 PM  Public Safety Committee Regular Meeting

Ken Schlather and Lisa Ellin provided a progress report on the Tompkins Re-entry Program and the Scope of Work as detailed in the contract that began in September 2016.

Ms. Kelles asked what the difference was with URO and the Re-entry Program and the services provided. Ms. Ellin said URO does not currently work inside the Jail. A great service they could provide is mentoring an individual upon release from Jail. Ms. Ellin spoke to the importance of programs and services coordinating and collaborating together within the community.

Ms. Robertson asked how successful they believe the program has been including with connecting with people after being released from Jail. Ms. Ellin commented it is very difficult to stay in touch with people. She reiterated her comment about the coordination and collaboration of programs and services within the community is extremely difficult and that it needs to be a cohesive effort. Navigating the systems is also difficult.

Mr. John asked if information concerning recidivism could be provided. Mr. Mareane believes the consultants will be able to address that question.
