Meeting History

Sep 6, 2017 3:30 PM  Government Operations Committee Regular Meeting

Mr. Potter provided an update on the status of installing public Wi-Fi in the four locations in County buildings (Legislature Chambers, Old Jail, Rice Conference Room, and Mental Health Department lobby) and said access points should be live by the end of the month. There will be no password required but there would be an initial splash screen that users would be directed to upon accessing the internet. This screen would provide information on limitations, conditions, and rules on the intended use. There will be testing prior to it going live. Ms. Chock asked that a notification e-mail be sent out to let people know when it is available.

Mr. Potter provided an update on the HR/Payroll Cloud Suite Upgrade project that is based on the hosting of the application by the software vendor in their managed data centers and the Server Replacement project.

Ms. Chock spoke in support of the Department moving in this direction but expressed concern that there be opportunities to change contracts in the future particularly in the technology field. Mr. Potter said the contracts the department enters into typically do not exceed five years with an option to renew and there would be an option each year to get out of the contract.

Ms. Kiefer questioned the PAR (Project Approval Request) form having a blank SEQR section. Mr. Wood advised using Type II-20 for the SEQR Action.
