Ms. Borgella complimented the staff in her Department and the exceptional work completed by them during the period they have been short staffed.

Ms. Borgella provided a brief report on the following:

· Department Vacancies - Ms. Borgella stated the recruitment for the Deputy Commissioner and Principal Planner Tourism Program Director positions began and the application deadline is January 8th. Interview teams have been established in order to move forward quickly and hold interviews the week of January 16th. She explained that once those positions are filled she will move towards filling the Energy Navigator and Senior Planner positions.

· Office Renovations - Ms. Borgella explained that the Departmental furniture order has been placed for the renovation project in the Department. She stated part of the project is to change the Department entrance to the Dewitt Park side of the building and align their entrance with the Legislature. She said in preparation for this project staff has been cleaning things out of the basement and ensuring there is adequate space.

· Heat Smart Three Program Proposal - On behalf of Solar Tompkins, Ms. Borgella just submitted a Heat Smart Three program proposal to the Park Foundation. She explained that the County has been the fiscal sponsor in the past and have agreed to be the fiscal sponsor again for the grant through the Park Foundation.

Ms. Robertson inquired about the need for the Department in having an office in the downtown complex area. Ms. Borgella stated there is a need to be in the downtown area and there are a number of meetings attended downtown by staff on a daily basis and their work with others located in the downtown area. She said once all vacancies are filled there will be 15 staff members and one or two interns.
