Mrs. McBean-Clairborne, Chair, announced December 28th is the Kwanzaa celebration at the Southside Community Center and the Martin Luther King community breakfast will be held on January 14th. She said the Committee met on December 12th and discussed next steps in the Climate Survey and also brought to the Committee's attention that there are conversations taking place within the LGBTQ community about safe havens, implicit bias, and micro-aggression. She said a look is being taken at the County's training series and seeing that this is an area in County government that gets addressed. The Committee also received an update on the ADA (Americans with Disabilities) transition plan. She said there will be continued discussions on the resolution that was withdrawn from the agenda this evening and to discuss stronger language as to what it means to be a sanctuary community. She welcomed Legislators to provide comments on this as the Committee continues to work on the resolution at its next meeting.
