Call to Order

              Mr. Dennis, Chair, called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.

Departmental Presentations

                            Opening Remarks

 

              Mr. McGuire provided an update on new information contained in the budget books this year and called attention to replacement pages that will be distributed at each meeting that Legislators should be insert in budget books. 

 

              Mr. Lane and Mr. John arrived at this time.

 

              Mr. Dennis said seven two-hour meetings have been scheduled this year to hear department presentations.  He called attention to inaccuracies contained in an article that referenced the County's sources of revenue in the Ithaca Journal that was written by a new reporter.  He  said the writer has been contacted and provided with the correct information and hopes what was offered will be helpful as her career grows.

 

              Mr. Mareane, County Administrator, provided a brief overview of how information is organized in the budget book. 

 

              Board of Elections

 

              Elizabeth Cree and Steve Dewitt, Election Commissioners, provided an overview of the Department's proposed 2018 budget.

 

              Ms. Kelles arrived at this time. 

 

              County Attorney

 

              Jonathan Wood, County Attorney, provided an overview of the Department's proposed 2018 budget. 

 

              Mr. Lane suggested the Government Operations Committee look at the issue of consideration of the supervision of the attorney positions in the Department of Social Services being moved to the County Attorney's office.

 

              Human Services Coalition

 

              Kathy Schlather, Executive Director of the Human Services Coalition, and John Mazello, Director of Community Services, provided an overview of the Agency's 2018 budget.

 

              Office for the Aging

 

              Lisa Holmes, Director of the Office for the Aging, provided an overview of the Department's proposed 2018 budget. 

 

              Mr. John and Mrs. McBean-Clairborne left during this time.

 

              District Attorney

 

              Mathew Van Houten, District Attorney, provided an overview of the Department's proposed 2018 budget. 

 

              Ms. Chock, Mr. Burbank, Mr. Klein, Ms. Robertson, and Ms. Kelles left during this time.
